Plus points:
Film delivers a decent message to not differentiate between a boy and a girl. And that one shouldn’t kill the foetus before pregnancy.
Minus point:
1) Ranveer Singh ne pata nahin kaun si Nashe kee Goli lekar yeh film sign ki thi. Unka kehna tha ki woh story narration ke time per 50 baar haste haste gir pade the. Ranveer bhai, aapka story sense toh zero ho gaya hai. Aap to gire hi, saath hi saath jo 4-5 darshak film dekhne gaye.. woh bhi rote hue gir gaye.
Shalini Pandey as Ranveer’s wife is not a heroine material. She did an average job. Talented actors such as Boman Irani, Ratna Pathak Shah and Punit are wasted.
2) Director (Divyang Thakkar) has made a disastrous debut in Bollywood. His writing and direction are childish. He should have made a cartoon film instead of wasting Yash Raj banner money.
3) Story is outdated. The subject doesn't suit Gujarat as such discrimination mostly prevails in Haryana, Bihar, UP and other interior parts of a few villages in India. Too much Gujarati flavour won't work at Pan India level.
Story better suits to a 10 min documentary. It’s a criminal waste to make an entire film on this.
Screenplay is pathetic. Zero light hearted moments. Dialogues too, are ordinary and forgettable. Not a single scene will touch your heart.
4) Film is supposed to be a funny one. But barring one or two scenes, it's a complete nonsensical drama.
Ranveer’s long speech on puppy (kiss) is just horrible. Entire film is neither entertaining nor educating. Why would anyone make such a movie?
5) Music is disastrous.
6) The most stupid scene of the film is when the heroine delivers a baby in the labour room after smelling soap !?!. A complete contrast to Ranveer’s 9 years old daughter who is shown to be well versed with latest tech and social media happenings while all the other villagers are shown to be dumb.
7) This type of film is not even suitable for free viewing on OTT platforms.
Lesson to Bollywood makers:
Producers must know whether the film is be made for the masses or class) audience. And select a subject which caters to the audience interest and not the stars.
Actors should cap their fees @10% of the making charge. The balance should be paid out only if the film does a good business. Then only Bollywood can survive.
Lagta hai Bollywood Ke Acche Din aane ko time hai. Production companies apne darvaje par nimbu-mirchi tang kar puja-paath karein. Jab aisi film banengi toh South aur Hollywood wale to Bollywood ko thokenge hi.
Box office:
Film got the worst opening of Ranveer Singh’s career: At many multiplexes, barely 4 tickets were sold. High probability of shows being cancelled.
Ranveer’s last film 83, was critically acclaimed but flopped at the box office. His would be worst in terms of collections.
