GoodBye is a heart-warming story on life, family and relationships.
Plus Point
1) Amitabh Bachchan has acted with full conviction emotionally. He is good.
Neena Gupta is decent but she didn't get a single scene to show her talent.
This is Rashmika Mandanna first Hindi film and she has done a good job. Well supported by Pavail Gulati, Elli AvrRam, Sahil Mehta and Abhishek Khan.
Sunil Grover is hilarious and gives immense relief in the second half after the boring first half.
2) Film consists of light-hearted moments. Audience would feel connected with the drama while performing the last rites.
3) A person who has lost his close ones with children leaving him to settle abroad would strongly bond some people with the film.
4) Production design is good in terms of photography, locations, background score etc.
Minus Points
Direction, Story, Screenplay and Dialogues.
Director Vikas Behl failed to create the magic like his earlier films ( Queen and Super 30). Though film has many touching and entertaining moments but first half is weak and second half is stretched.
Story is different but would hardly appeal to today's generation and paying audience. Screenplay could have been written better. Why Amitabh and his four children were not in good terms is not clearly established.
Further, it seems that writer got confused whether to make a serious drama or satire. Dialogues are not impactful.
Not a chartbuster song.
a) "Chann Pardesi" Amit Trivedi
b) "Jai Kal Mahakal" Amit Trivedi, Suhas Sawant
c) "Maaye" Devender Pal Singh,
d) "Kanni Re Kanni" Nakash Aziz
3) Film lacks entertainment, be it in the form of comedy, hit songs or romance.
Box office Verdict
Due to average promotion, audience is not aware of this film being released. This film is suitable for OTT platforms and not for theatres.
The gimmick of first day reduced price of Rs.150 /- per ticket did not work well. Opening of the film is below average.
