Article 370

Rating - 3 /5

Director-Aditya Jambhale

Producers-Aditya Dhar, Jyoti Deshpande, Lokesh Dhar

Starring - Yami Gautam, Priya Mani, Arun Govil, Kiran Karmarkar, Ashwini Koul and other's

The whole world knows how the Government of India abolished Article 370 in Parliament on 5th August 2019, which had been in effect in Kashmir since 1947.

Plus And Minus Points

This is a political drama film that depicts the unused aspect of Section 370 from 1947 to 2019. It offers a realistic perspective. People who understand politics will definitely like this film.

Acting

Yami Gautam has delivered a commendable performance, appearing perfectly in her role. Her acting journey began in 2012 with the film "Vicky Donor," followed by several commercial hits such as "Badlapur," "Kaabil," "Bala," "Uri," and "OMG 2." However, currently, Yami Gautam seems to be establishing herself as an OTT star. Films like "Thursday" and "Dasvi" on OTT platforms are preferred by audiences over theatres.

Now, speaking of another actress, Priyamani, who portrayed a crucial role with excellent acting skills. Arun Govil portrays the Prime Minister while Kiran Karmarkar takes on the role of the Home Minister. The rest of the star cast has also provided strong support. Overall, the performances in the film are decent.

Direction

The film is directed by Aditya Suhas, which caused some confusion as people initially thought it was directed by Aditya Dhar.

Aditya Dhar is the producer, story writer, screenplay writer, and dialogue writer of this film.

Aditya Suhas has achieved significant success in making a good political drama film. However he has taken on cinematic liberties at many places. He has been successful in delivering a powerful message on how the Government of India removed Article 370.

Story, Screenplay, Dialogue

Aditya Dhar has written the story, screenplay, and dialogues, with support from Arjun Dhawan and Aditya Dhar. Monal Thaakar has also made a special contribution to the dialogues and screenplay.

Story lacks originality, as everyone knows how Article 370 was revoked. While there are some minor twists, they are weak, and the film fails to deliver as a compelling thriller. Dialogues lack the hard-hitting impact expected from those spoken by the Prime Minister, Home Minister or other characters

Several dialogues are unnecessarily in English. Furthermore, the film is not based on true events. Writers have taken many cinematic liberties and forcibly inserted numerous scenes to make the film more coherent.

The major drawback of the film is that despite being based on real events, the Prime Minister, Home Minister, and Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir are not referred to by their actual names but instead given fictional names.

Music:

There isn't a standout patriotic song, but the background score is good.

Editing:

Film's length is 2 hours and 40 minutes, which could’ve been shortened with crisp editing.

Film has many flaws, such as the absence of a strong villain's presence.

Film fails to emotionally connect with the audience, and lacks light moments.

Box office

"Yami Gautam isn't a big box office star that people would rush to theaters to see her. Additionally, Article 370 is a somewhat dry subject, and the majority of people in India may not even know what it is all about.

Today, the film article 370 is benefited because ticket prices were set at 99 rupees due to Cinema Lovers Day. However, starting tomorrow, ticket prices will return to their regular rates and collection are likely to dry

If this film is to succeed, it should offer one ticket free for every purchased ticket and be tax-free.

Film is made of 30 crore, and todays collection would be around 5 crore. 'Article 370' is a classy film, so it will likely appeal to the elite multiplex audience and due to stroy word of mouth, should be able to do good business

Propaganda films are not performing well at the box office nowadays. 'The Kashmir Files' was an exception, but subsequent films like 'Vaccine War', 'Main Atal Hoon', and '695' were massive flops. Upcoming film 'Bastar' and Kangana Ranaut's 'Emergency' are expected to join this list.
