Overview:

Rajnikanth's highly anticipated film "Jailer" was released on Thursday, and the fervor was so high that many offices declared a holiday in cities like Chennai and Bangalore.

The most exciting element of the film was none other than Rajnikanth himself, whose immense fan following had them more than prepared for the big release. The action sequences were particularly impressive, thanks to Rajinikant, but his entry was slightly underwhelming for his devoted fans.

The rest of the cast, including Ramaiya Krishnan, Jackie Shroff and Mohanlal. All delivered a good performance. Tamanna Bhatia's item number was particularly well-choreographed.

However, the film was lacking in emotional and romantic elements.

Box Office Verdict:

The film was released in five languages and advanced ticket sales already totaled 40 crore. The hype around the film is such that first weekend ticket sales are projected to be between 150 to 200 crore, and tickets were even being sold on the black market for INR 5000/- in Chennai. In Mumbai, multiplexes are offering up to 16 shows a day.

First day box office collection is likely to be around 50 crore.

"Jailer" is sure to give "Oh My God 2" and "Gadar 2" a tough fight at the box office.
