Story: A woman gets an opportunity to save the life of a 12-year old boy who witnessed a death during a thunderstorm which happened 25 years ago, by getting connected through the television set during a similar storm in the present.
Plus Points
1) Taapsee Pannu, Pavail Gulati and other actors have performed reasonably well. But doing a good job when the entire story doesn't hold viewers interest is pointless.
2) Technically film is quite polished in terms of photography, locations, background score and other production design.
Minus Points
1) Anurag Kashyap has made a carbon copy of Spanish film Mirage. Spanish films are hardly popular worldwide. What made Anurag Kashyap to make film Do baara! Spanish version itself was a disaster in their country.
Entire film is confusing right from the word go. Even if Anurag Kashyap sits with the a viewer and explain every scene and story, he might too get confused narrating it.
2) Story is horrible. One can’t figure as to what's going on for 130 minutes? It’s a mental torture to watch such a film.
Screenplays is confusing with many flashbacks. Dialogues are outdated. When the story and screenplay don’t have an impact on the audience, dialogues hardly matter.
3) Music doesn't work in this maha boring drama.
4) Editor should have refused to edit this film.
Box Office Verdict
Film will widely go unnoticed at the box office. It’s neither for a class nor for the masses. It may appeal to ‘chamcha’ critics very elite class only who claim to be super-intelligent in understanding world cinema.
When all big stars (Akshay Kumar Ajay Devgan, Ranbir Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Aamir Khan, Shahid Kapoor, Tiger Shroff, John Abraham etc ) could not pull the audience to the theatres, why do you think Taapsee Pannu and relatively unknown Hero Pavail Gulati are capable of pulling them? Zero chance!
Lagta hai Anurag Kashyap, Ekta Kapoor, Taapsee Pannu aur film se connected baki Logon ne audience dimag se Khali samajh rakha Hai ke unko Kuchh Bhi paroso aur woh kha lenge.
An Oscar and National award should be given to the person who can explain the story after watching the film.
Producer Ekta Kapoor (Balaji) has spent ₹40 crores to make this non-starrer film. Where exactly was it spent? Such film’s budget should not exceed ₹8 crores.
Life time collections would be less than ₹5 crores. I am sure that foolish OTT platform would come to the rescue of the film makers Do baraa and buy the rights for an unheard price.
Opening was 0 to 5 percent Pan India.
