Plus points

Wish there could be any positive things to say about the film but barring a few scenes and locations, the film has nothing credible.

Minus Points

1) Ranbir Kapoor who is a talent powerhouse has been completely wasted in his double role. The reasons are unknown for signing such a degraded script. Maybe the pressure to be in the race?

Vaani Kapoor is just there for the skin show which she is famous for in all Yash Raj films. Apart from 3 sexy dance numbers, she doesn't have a single scene where she owns the screen.

Sanjay Dutt greatly disappoints. He looks more like a comedian than a villain. He neither terrifies nor entertains the viewers. Talented actors like Saurabh Shukla, Iravati Harshe & Ronit Roy look like a bunch of extras. What a sheer waste of talent!

2) Director Karan Malhotra has made a disastrous period (1870) film without any research. What is the motive for making such a baseless and non-sensical movie out of nowhere?

There are hardly any confrontation scenes between the Indians and Britishers. No hard hitting dialogues or scenes exist throughout. The patriotic connect is not established with the audience. In fact, the main lead is seeing buttering the Britishers.

140 days were spent to shoot this stupid drama and one whole month to create a two minute train action scence for the film; what a waste of time and money! Had Karan Malhotra given a few months of proper writing and research, screenplay and dialogues; the fate of the film would have been different.

With this film, Yash Raj films has 6th flop to its discredit. It's high time they buckle up as this could lead to more disasters in the future. Aditya Chopra really needs to rethink what type of filmmaking he wants to do.

3) Story is dated and has no novelty. Audience wants entertainment not some crappy period film with no head and tail. YRF being involved is again a question as to what's wrong with their choices of films.

A scene where the entire community has been imprisoned, but Ranbir with kids are shown dancing and making merry as if he is on a rollercoaster ride. How can any writer think of something like that! He surely deserves an Oscar.

Screenplay (Karan Malhotra) is pathetic. If given an option screenplay writer of this horrible film should be banned by the writer association.

Dialogues (Piyush Mishra) are ordinary. Not a single dialogue is clap worthy.

4) Music (Mithoon) - Film doesn't have even one average song (‘Ji Huzoor by Aditya Narayan, ‘Fitoor’ by Arijit Singh, Neeti Mohan ‘Kaale Naina’ by Shadaab Faridi, Neeti Mohan, Sudesh ‘Shamshera’ title track by Sukhwinder Singh, Abhishek Jaiswal "Hunkara" by Shukhwinder Singh, Richa Sharma and “Parinda" by Sukhwinder Singh, Abhishek Naiwal). All 6 songs are pain to the ears.

5) The film does not need editing. The entire film needs to be scraped and put in a dustbin.

6) Photography: The film has been shot in dark specially the first half an hour, the reason for this is still a mystery.

7) Only few action scenes are well composed. Rest are just okay.

8) Makeup plays a important role in periodic films as it adds a touch of reality, but here even makeup could not save the look of the film. It seems that the entire focus of the makeup man was to ensure that only Vaani Kapoor should look gorgeous.

Box Office Verdict

Film opening is below expectations and after the weekend honeymoon will be over, this film will surely turnout to be the worst disaster than "Thugs of Hindustan" at the box office.

The film is not meant for any class and hence, it will be a 100 percent flop at box office. Makers claim the film's budget to be 150 crore , however, it's much more. Lets see which stupid OTT platform comes forward and give 50-100 crore for the rights of a movie which viewers won’t even watch it for free.

When the first poster/ trailer was released. it gathered bad reviews back then, but the film turned out to be a total nightmare. In spite of reducing the ticket price, the makers will have a hard time getting the audience to watch such a film at the theaters. Tough times ahead for Bollywood!
